Is morality derivable from facts alone?

Is a morality free from subjectivity possible?
In other words, is it possible for a non-normative interpretation of events to conjure up moral meaning? Can our observation of mere events or phenomena reveal a posteriori, right and wrong, good and bad, etc., conclusions? Can an atheist culture be moral?

The 11th day as a haunting number

My daughter was born in the 11th month, 1973, and died on the 11h minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1974. My son died on February 22 (twice eleven), 1984 (adds up to 22), and was born on Dec. 11, 1981.
My wife and my birthdays are separated by the 11th day of September.

at work!

The question is:
Can we derive 'ought' from 'is' when we apply this to how science and religion each create morality? Posted by Picasa
